A Trip to Appleton, Wisconsin and a Kidmin Building Tour

Recently, I had the chance to get some much needed quality time with the hubs travel to Appleton, WI with Ryan so he could speak at Appleton Alliance Church for a Kidmin event the church was hosting.  I loved meeting Kris Smoll, the church’s Discovery Land Director and touring their current building as well as their soon to be completed addition. To say that I was totally amazed at their facilities is an understatement. As I was touring the building I took a few photos with my phone (sorry for the poor quality) for inspiration for now and in the future.  I thought that some others might enjoy seeing the pictures and it gave me the idea to start a new feature here on the blog.  About once a month I am going to feature a church tour here on the blog. Extra-small, small, mid-size, large, mega-large, I think that we can find inspiration and ideas from each.  I would love to feature your church, please email me if you are interested (beth at kidzmatter dot com).  Any church featured here on the blog will receive some extra-special KidzMatter goodies in the mail:)

So, here is the first official installment of Kidmin Spaces and Places!

The church has a giant multi-purpose open space with different centers set up.  I love the Bible-themed decorating and the hands-on learning centers.

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, that is a huge sand pit!!  Is your mind in overload thinking about all of the possibilities?!?!?!

These craft supplies were on a really neat-looking cart (sorry, didn’t get a picture of the cart) that could be taken wherever needed.

This was the MOST organized resource room I have ever been in!  Seriously.

This chart was posted throughout the room and has all of the resources listed with their location.  I wasn’t kidding, seriously organized!!

Featuring resources that go along with the week’s lesson is an awesome tool for parents!  Love it!

Hope you enjoyed this short Kidmin Spaces and Places tour and picked up a new idea or two for your ministry!

Blessings,

These are great ideas. Even though we have to set up every week this has given me some ideas for what we could do.

Ryan, I LOVE Kris’s church. We have hosted several Kidology University training events there. They are wonderful, and the story of how they got that children’s wing is awesome, “We decided the adult wing expansion could wait.” By the way, I buried a ten dollar bill in the sand pit and rumor is, it has STILL not been found, so go for it! (The $1 bill I buried the year before was found, and the $5 the following year, but the $10 remains still unclaimed all these years later!)
